Gatineau will Rock again in 2012

The fourth edition of the now "Challenge Château Cartier de Gatineau" is part of the World Curling Tour circuit (WCT) and will take place October 24th to 28th 2012 in Gatineau. This first class sports event will be jointly held at the Centre Sportif Robert Rochon (in the Masson sector of Gatineau) and the Buckingham Curling Club.

This tournament is of international caliber and is now considered the biggest one in Eastern Canada.

This year, the « Pro-Am » type event will host 30 elite men’s teams, 12 elite women’s teams and 20 « open class » teams for a total of 248 participants who will compete for more than $59,000 in purse money.

The event will be a great happening and no doubt showcase great curling for the many fans of this sport in this region. We are also anticipating that this event and the influx of many out of town teams will generate a significant economic boost to the National Capital Region.

The organizing committee can rely on its Elite Partners : le Château Cartier, la Ville de Gatineau, Transcontinental Media, Chartro Construction, the Buckingham Curling Club and Curling Québec.

Headlining the field is returning champion and home town curler Jean-Michel Ménard and Brad Gushue from Newfoundland/Labrador, a world renowned curler who won the gold medal at the 2006 Olympic games in Turin. Top caliber mens and womens teams from Eastern Canada, the United States and Russia are ready to rock and make this the most successful edition yet.
